God's Faithfulness

There are 4 guys that I have been praying for daily for the last 3-4 years. Two have never known Christ, one walked with Christ during his youth but then turned away, and the other made a decision for Christ but within months turned back to the ways of the world (Matt 13:20). I don't live near these guys anymore, but try to keep in touch with them through phone calls. I am a Calvinist, so I believe that in God's timing, he can overcome the hardest of hearts, but honestly I was beginning to doubt. But the last one mentioned above, text messaged me Friday night. This is what it said: "I need u, ive backslid 2 much and now im ready, this will be hard and impossible on my own, ive committed my life 2 god and want 2 change 4ever, i love u man and need ur prayer 4 help and strength." I immediately called him and he is genuinely repentant. I was extremely encouraged and reminded that we 'ought always to pray and not lose heart' (Luke 18:1-8). God is faithful.

B,

Awesome. Thanks for that testimony. It convicts me a little.

God is at work in this brother's life. He got a new job which requires a move to San Antonio, so that should be good. A new place for a new start.

Man, that encourages me that in our everyday life we always want those prayers answered right then and there, but God may not have that in His plans for years.By saying that we should not get distracted or discouraged but continue strong in prayer

Blake,
The comment about God's timing reminds me of last weekend. We were supposed to look at a house at 1:00 after church. The seller's realtor called and had to move back the showing until 2:00. This worked out perfectly because our realestate agent was at church late on sunday with two kids who were repentant and trusted in Christ for His salvation. Our realtor thought she was going to be late to the showing, but by God's providential will, the showing was moved back until 2.

It's good to be a calvinist...

Blake, I was able to use this story to encourage a friend of ours who has lost parents and just finished a discouraging visit with them. The Lord brought this post of yours to mind and it reminds me of the Muller book I'm wrapping up tonight. Praising God for your friend's salvation and encouraged by your example of faithful prayer.
